Eurasian Curlew Numenius arquata

Another Curlew captured yesterday morning at a nature reserve here in Hong Kong. Slightly cropped for composition ...

The wing blur gives the sense of action very nicely in this image, KK.

Wonderful pose and sense of motion you captured KK. The head pops nicely against the far wing. Too bad about the scruffy tail feathers in such a nice fanned display.

Scruffy?!

The tail feather actually looks pretty good in shape if you examine them closely! Mind you, all the Curlews I photograhed look alike with respect to their tail feathers ... :?

Then I stand corrected. I commented from personal perception instead of field and species expertise. I have now learned something.

Don't know about the 'scruffy plumage', looks in fine plumage to me. Shame you couldn't have found one with a nice straight bill though

Great flight shot kk

KK, I love the shot and the wing position is great, though I would prefer less blur on the wings. I think some is from motion and some is just from DOF. Still a great shot. Nice job!

Absolutely wonderful, KK. I am learning a lot just by watching your careful crops and compositions. The transluscence of the tail feathers is actually one of my favorite parts of your artful composition.
