In Hummingbird Photography, patience is something very necessary. Two years ago I was after a magnificent hummingbird at the Santa Rita Lodge at Madera Canyon in Arizona, after three days of waiting and waiting finally this male showed up. I was mesmerized not only for the size of this hummingbird but also for their extremely gaudy colors. Thanks to our government which for centuries have protected the national forests, the habitat of this true jewel of the air has been preserved. It is our obligation to keep those sky island of pristine territory so our grandchildren will continue to see them on the wild.

Thanks for looking, all brutal comments are appreciated.

Gorgeous! I can't offer any brutal comments.
The colors are great and the detail in the wings is beyond compare.

I love the patch of Azure which shows so clearly on the throat, Juan. The details are fantastic in this one. Unfortunately I find the bright colors in the background behind the bird under the wings a slight distraction. It by no means ruins the shot for me but it does detract a little. A gorgeous shot in any case and one I'd love to have for myself

Beautiful Juan. I concur with your thoughts on our obligation. I hope we ALL step up to the plate on that one.

Another "magnificent" shot on your part yet again Juan! I think your direction of going to a more natural background (as posted in digital topics - looking for fabrics to print on) is a good one.
