This is a shot from last February, one of my first after switching to digital. I decided last night to rework it. This of the critically endangered "streaked" subspecies which is native to the grasslands and coastal beaches in western Oregon and Washington. There are thought to be fewer than 250 pairs left. I'm curious what people think, particularly since this was prepared on my laptop monitor. Comments, critiques and reposts are welcome.

Wow, this is a cracker jack image of this subspecies. Framing and detail are great, and I like the rocks rising & blurring in the background. I had to check my field guides to see if these birds really are as saturated as this :), but indeed Sibley shows them just so. Wonderful coloring compared to the more drab subspecies I'm familiar with. Great capture...

Nice shot Michael! I like the way the reddish areas in the BG resemble the reddish feathers of the bird.

Beautiful shot Michael - looks wonderful to me! DOF is perfect and the diffused light on the bird is fabulous.

Looks good to me Michael. Colours are fantastic.

Interesting to look back at older work, and to be able to rework with digital. Interesting too to see this image of the rare streaked subspecies.
