A mid evening shot on Tuesday this week at North Beach, Ft. Desoto. I watched and watched, waiting for him to do something. Finally he did.

I'm curious as to how the highlights look to you. I pushed them until they looked good on my Apple Cinema Display but sometimes when I do that, the highlights look hot on other monitors.

Thanks for looking,

Van Hilliard

This is great, Van. I love the pose. Highlights look good from here, but I'm on the same monitor!

Highlights looks fine to me Van. The image is stellar all around. I like how its bill is touching the water as it is stretching its wings. Really nice pose.

I'm not on that same monitor and the highlights look great to me. Love that head pose in combination with the wing stretch. The only minor (very minor) nit I have is that the bird is too centered for my tastes. Spendid image.

Thanks for the comments, folks. Alfred, I'll try your cropping suggestion. I think it might be just what the image needs.

Brian, I agree that the bird is too centered. Sometimes, in order to have the subject appear large enough to display on the computer monitor, I crop in a way I wouldn't crop for printing. I see your point here.

This looks great Van, perhaps a hair of sharpening around the eye.

Van -

The stretch pose is great and the bill tip in the water adds interest.
Highlights look right on from where I sit. Color balance is good too.

Really nice Van!

For me the open bill just in the water is a lovely detail.

Some good suggestions above as well.

Cheers

Goegeous pose and excellent exposure! :) Would consider cropping a bit off the top and add to the bottom where the virtual legs are.

Van,

Whites looked good on my calibrated Dell 21" LCD at home and the uncalibrated Dell 17" LCD at work. Cropping suggestions already mentioned. Wonderful image.

Very nice, Van. Great pose. The head does look just a wee bit soft.

Love this image Van. The whites look great here. Just wish the bird was bit higher in frame as suggested. :)
