needs no introduction, Knight Inlet, BC, Canada, Aug 2005, 1dmk2, 500/4L, handheld from boat, 6MP/8.2MP

I'm back from my first trip to North America. Needless to say I was impressed. The Vancouver area, Vancouver Island and the Knight Inlet were just amazing, even though it was not a very successful trip photographically. However I was able to take home some decent shots. I like this one. At least it is sharp, what is always obvious when shooting from a boat all the time.

Hope you like it as well, even though there are much better and far more exciting baldies on NSN.

Of course ANY feedback is more than welcome.

Cheers

Peter

Glad you're back!
I'd be happy too if I were posting my first BE shot, Peter!
Good exposure and sharp. May be just a tad brighter ...

Hi Peter, this is definitely a decent shot! I wish the BG was a bit brighter. I think the composition would benefit from using the diagonal formed by the wings position - I would love to repost my suggestion if that's OK with you.

Yes, this could be brighter, though it's a very good capture. We are eagerly awaiting the return of the BE's to the Brackendale area in BC.

Great shot Peter! Very difficult to get from a boat. :) Glad that you enjoyed Vancouver Island, a nice place to visit indeed.

The birds head turning so the light is on it worked out well here. I like the grenn BG, which you don't see a lot of with this species. I agree with Ofer on the crop.

Ofer has made a great suggestion for the crop. Nice work from a boat!

Thanks guys.

More cropping is not really an option. (it's a returning topic) It's cropped to 6MP. Making this diagonal will mean a 50% crop or something. If anybody wants to have it that way, fine.

I have made a lighter version. I think this is 0.8 stop extra. Is this better?
