Photographed this little guy a few weeks back on the beach in Canaveral NS.

He was kind enough to shake his head to loosen the glob of sand on his beak sending a spray of water drops in an almost complete circle around his head.

Comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Lots to like about this, Robert. I like the interest the shadow creates and the tippie toe look of the left foot. Good exposure, detail and colour to go with the water droplets.

Great colour in the turnstone, and I like the circle of spray around the head. The closed eyes are great as well.

That sand is amazingly compact and smooth too. Looks like coloured paper or something?

Good shot.

Very nice Robert. I think the circle of water makes the image.

I like it! Interesting behavior caught on CMOS.

I also like how you have taken my captioning to a whole new artistic level. :) Nice, complete presentation of the info here. Cool font, too.

Robert,

Very cool shot. The circular trail of water around his head is great.

Thanks all.

Al, Artie would bonk me on the head for the side lighting. I had myself setup low (but not on the belly since I was in the surf) and was catching the RTs as they crossed in front of me. I started following this guy when he was to my left and fired off a series when he shook. I knew that the RT's plumage would look great against the slate gray sand, but the water drops were a pleasant surprise.

The side lighting works well here IMO and the shadow (as noted by Eleanor) lends a nice graphic feel. Even though I shot some with direct frontal lighting, this is the best due to the action.
