This is a continuation of the TX-MX trip in spring. In Mexico, the first day I went with the drive around group on the back of the pickup truck. This juvenile Scissor-tailed flycatcher was perching on a thorny bush. We did not see too many of these and I only got a few and not spectacular images of them.

Looks pretty nice Steve! Love the perch and the background.

I have to get me one of those 1.5x converters. ;)

The inclusion of so much of the perch really adds to the quality of the image. Well done.

I think you've gotten a lovely shot here. Understated colours work too, and the detail is great. The perch is a beauty (a risky proposition to come in to land quickly on that!!). Love the catchlight too, makes the bird look really alert.

Sure it would be nice to set up and try other compositions but more often than not, your chances are fleeting. You did well here to get such a nice shot from limited exposure.
"When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty. I only think about how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong. "
