Willet Catoptrophorus semipalmatus
La Jolla 8-6-05

This Willet was running around being chased and harassed by other Willets and a very young and aggressive Western Gull. I thought I may not get an image of this bird with its prize. Finally, the other birds gave up and it ran near me, stopping briefly to give me what I wanted. Thanks.

You owe this Willet a libation of its choice at its favorite watering hole, after the photo op it granted you! :) A really top notch image -- great view point, exposure, detail... wrapping an excellent composition. Very well done!

Thanks,
