Mark, I like this one. I like the turbulent water with the calm tree.

Agreed, I think this works well.

GASP! That tree is dead center! Just kidding, I really like the comp. I also like the relatively fast shutter speed. Cool shot.

The tree being dead center is an "in your face flaunting of the rules of composition"...but it works very well.
Congrats

I like the angle, think the composition works well with the R limbs following the line of the creek and the leaves have good detail and sharpness. What was your vision for this photo?

re: my vision

an excerpt from the artist's statement in my recently published monograph, "Tactile Revelations".

"To my eye, the Adirondack Park is a vast assemblage of intimate vignettes comprised of color, light and texture. These elements combine to create elegant tableaux that reveal the nature and spirit of this place. A nature and spirit that is defined, not by the grand panorama, but by the cumulative affecting impressions made by exposure to seemingly endless variations of indigenous minutia.

Visual stimuli, beauty and wonder abound in spontaneous and subtle combinations of color, light and texture found in carefully constructed images of the forest floor, and the water's edge and surface. Grasses, moss, lichen, rock, bark and detritus foster a delightful and tactile sense of the rich and diverse mileau of the "Forever Wild" forest preserve."

many, but by no means all, of the images (including this one) that i have posted on nsn are from the ongoing body of work that falls under the purview of this statement.

Nice image, but the composition fights with me. I know this is what you are after, as you like to disregard the rules, but there is too much tension in the frame, in my opinion.

Keep 'em coming.
