First off, let me say that I've been so absolutely blown away by all the great owl photos from Minnesota, Ontario, & Quebec. I've been extremely jealous all winter!

We don't have an eruption happening here, but the GGOs are traditionally around here most of the time ... but are very difficult to find because of our land mass & lack of roads. This photo was taken yesterday near Vanderhoof, BC - the geographical centre of BC (a small area quite similar to central Minnesota in regards to farming land, etc).

I took a ton of images of this fellow from yesterday, but this type of shot (wind swept) was one I felt hadn't been shown on this site too often.

Taken with a Canon 20D, Canon 400mm f/4 DO, 1/160, f/5.6, ISO400

Very nice shot on an interesting perch with excellent DOF. I would wish for a more straight on shot so that the one eye wouldn't be partially obscured.

Wind blown sure works for me. I am amazed at these owls and their beautiful eyes. Nice job getting to this one and getting a fine image.

This is really interesting, the owl looks like a dwarf version all hunkered down like this against the wind!

The wind blown feathers are great Pete... looks like he is hunkered down well it must have been blowing pretty hard :)

No snow in the BG..kind of an early spring in the north BC ?

Yeah, we're about 2 weeks ahead of normal this year. Mostly because we had so little snow fall since the beginning of January. Cheers!
