Yes , Time flys ! Already my 1000 th post on NSN!
Just got back from Gambia , West-Africa, a real birders heaven with lots of spectacular species; still have to go through a couple of hundred shots; This is a Bluebellied Roller (Coracias cyanogaster), resting on the seeds of a palmtree; shot was taken in Pirang ( same place as the pied kingfisher from Peter! , see previous post) ;round noon in harsh daylight; cropped from hor. to vert.;
Canon 10D, 100-400 mm + 1.4 TC, at 560 mm,

Congrats on the 1000th post....and a very worthy image to celebrate. I am so fascinated with the Rollers in Africa. I don't think that I've seen this one before. A beautiful bird.....and I especially love the angle of the perch and the bird. Well done and I'll be anxious to see what else you've shot!!!

A very good capture considering the light condition youhad available.
Nice colors, with good detail. Pretty prickly perch, I guess the bird didn’t mind too much
