White-faced Ibis
Gilbert, AZ
The first pair I've seen this year flew around while I was photographing Avocets this afternoon. They circled the pond but wouldn't cooperate and land anywhere close.

Wonderful light on this bird. Really well done Cindy. Wish it was mine. I might take some off the top and move the bird to the right to give it more room to fly into.

As long as you can get good flight shots like this.....I wouldn't be that upset that they didn't land close. Get 'em next time. Excellent flight shot!!

Lucky you!!!!!!! My pair is always on the ground :( And I want them to fly over me.

Great shot. I would play with canvas and rotate a bit for a more dynamc comp. Bird is beautiful!!!

Great shot, Cindy! The position of the wings and head are killer. I think it needs a little shadow highlight work and the crop Mike suggested. I re-posted an example.

Cool shot - I hope to get outthere in the next week for another crack at these guys. The shadow/highlight tool will extract much mnore information from the plumage.

Oops, didn't realize Jim had already done the same thing.

I'll trade you a Henslow's Sparrow singing for one of these in flight ;-)

Excellent image.

Wow the repost looks much better! Thanks so much Jim and EJ for the s/h suggestion.
There was no more room at the left of the frame in the original, all the cropping I did was from the right and bottom. The added canvas on the left is a huge improvement.

Hi Cindy,

We have these guys en-mass in So Cal at the moment. None of my attempts come close to this. Very elegant and beautifully done. At least the circling provides lots of flight shot opportunities. Congrats!
