Downy Woodpecker Duluth,MN

D1X, 600, Flash.

Just spent a great day today with Terry Brashear and Steve Roman. Saw many new species and got some great photo opportunities at Great Gray Owl and Pine Grossbeak, but I also got a thrill with the more common species like this Downey. Perch by Steve.
Thanks Terry and Steve, it was great meeting you both.

Beautiful! That perch is gorgeous, and the bird sure picked a perfect spot to land.

Let me get this straight. You go to Duluth and the first thing you post is a Downey?!? :D An absolutely fantastic image though. I don't know if I'll ever understand how you do it. Great work!

Oh man....if this is what you get with the common species I can hardly wait to see what you get with the owls. Now.....get out there and get me some killer owl shots so I can keep hating you!!!

Beautiful shot Alan, but I want to see your GGO shots...and hey, it doesn't look very cold for both the Downy and a Texan with an English accent! (unless those are snow flakes that I faintly see in the image :D )
