I would like to see this a touch sharper, but I love the pose, colour tones and mood of this image! 8) 8) 8) :)

Would have liked to see a little more DOF and the techs. Nice mood shot.

Thanks for taking a look.
I shot this at f8 at 500mm iso 500 and focused on the head. I used the flash but it was not strong enough to light the subject at this distance.
So the body and tail are progessively out of focus.
Wasn't the brightest day and getting darker by the minute.
Agree the setting is the strongest point for this photo, glad you liked it.

Very nice bird. Little soft on my monitor.

Appreciate you folks taking the time to comment.
Glad you like the shot.
I have some shots with a head turn but they lose the light on the face.
My flash was not strong enough to provide necessary light, dang I can see another dip into the money pit coming.

He was sitting at the edge of a dropoff so I could not get a better angle.

Appreciate the critiques, this is all good stuff.

A little soft but I do like the gloomy mood and the birds calm pose. Were you shooting through a window?

Ok the head is sharp and the body is soft. As I said before I focused on the head.
Was I shooting through a window? Where does that come from?
As I said earlier this was shot at 500mm at f8 so the depth of field is quite shallow.
Iso 500. Used fill flash but didn't have much effect.

I guess I should have clarified as to why I asked. I'm thought I was seeing some OOF water drops on the left side below the branch but after looking again I guess it's just some clone marks.
