Smew

EOS10D, Sigma 100-300 F4 + 1.4TC, ISO 400, f5.6, 1/500. 550EX +BB.

The weather over here has been awful for photography, cold, dull, wet and windy. Even so, when we managed to get out for a short spell at the weekend we were amazed to see the ducks almost in full breeding plumage and displaying already. This little Smew was racing around the lake, seeing off the opposition and eyeing up the females!!

All comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking.

Excellent image with good exposure a lovely touch of colour in the water.

Yep, here too, really bad weather and I've not been getting any shots.

gorgeous duck. Don't think I've ever seen one of these.

Yes, I would have cut down the bushes but I'd left my chainsaw at home.

Great capture...too bad you forgot your chainsaw, as a lower angle would have made this killer.

Would have liked the rest of the reflection, but other than that a great image of a great bird.
