The mouse is just in front of the FG. One of only two days with some sunlight.

Dynamite! Great capture. Love the feather detail and the exposure is perfect under tough conditions!!!

Another fantastic shot Jim. The sun reflecting off the snow made for a great light balance.

This image leaves me almost speechless.

What a wonderful capture! The focus of those eyes is riveting.

Very nice, I like the feet hanging getting ready for the grab!

Love the wing position, Jim. I am wondering if you have a 100-400 IS? If so, what was your reason for using the 28-135 IS rather than the 100-400 on the 20D for this shot? Were you using auto focus?

Good depth of field, comp, exposure and detail.

Eleanor,

Yes I have a 100-400 but her flight path was so short. It was far easier to be just a few feet from the mouse and use the shorter lens. Less cropped off wings with this technique. I did use autofocus with the center point only being active.

Jim,

This is a very cool shot. You are still amazing me with these owl shots with the 28-135

Thanks,

Jim,

This is an outstanding shot. The owl projects very well with the snow background.

Jim, this is great. Isn't it fun shooting these guys? I was amazed that they were airborn before the mice I threw touched the ground.

Killer shot Jim. I love the snow BG and the detail in both the bird and the snow. Impressive capture with that camera/lens combo!
