I had so much fun this past summer watching all the different baby birds on my deck. Although it's hard to choose, I think one of my favorites were the baby goldfinch. Maybe just because there were so many of them. Every year I seem to accumulate more and more goldfinch. I'm currently feeding at least 5 dozen every day. The babies are especially fun to watch as they chase their parents all around begging for food in the summer. I also love the way they get all fluffed up every so often when they're hanging around waiting for mom and dad to come back.

These are two youngsters. I'm not sure if they were each hoping the other was going to feed it or if one was telling the other to get off his thistle plant. Hopefully next summer I'll get a chance to try this shot again with a little more speed and a better perch.

Comments appreciated! :D

A lovely shot that has lot of action captured, Kim!
The back lighting works wonder. A higher ss would help freezing the head better ...

This is a cool shot. The birds look like they are smiling at each other.

Awesome interaction Kim. A bit more SS would have been good, but this is still a great shot.

Excellent behavior shown here. The image may be just a tad blue.

Very nice capture. Love the motion in the wings to give it an action feel.

Kim,

This is very nice. A higher shutter speed would be good, but I like some motion in the wings especially when the heads are sharp like you have here.
