Nice shot Neil. How does the bird look with the bill closed? It seems there will be a gap :shock: Good motif shot too.

Great shot of this behavior. Looks a bit blue to me on the scan. Trevor, this is something called rhynchokinesis, showing the birds ability to manipulate the tip of its mandible to feel around in the sand and mud to find and grasp prey items. I was shooting with Neil on this day and this bird did this repeatedly for a few minutes while we shot away. This really shows it well.
