Hi everyone, This is my first post. Taken at Moss Landing Beach California during a very enjoyable couple of hours lying on the beach.

An excellent first post and a warm welcome to NSN, Juanli!
Good exposure control, pose and low shooting angle. The pano crop works well here ...

Hi Juanli,

I too think this is a great first post. Having spent a great deal of time on the beaches of Califorina I can attest to the fact that these guys are not always easy to catch standing still.

I love the wing stretch and low angle. So very nicely done. :)

Welcome to NSN!

Welcome to NSN. A great start. I would like to see the forground more in focus but that is only a preference. Since you had a lot of shutter speed, you could have stopped down quite a bit. Just a different perspective on a great first post.

As Juanli's husband, I have to say how proud I am of the progress made in such a short time. You only picked up a camera for the first time in August 2004 when I had a shoulder injury. Your dedication to learning the techniques and the patience you observe with your subjects is a joy to watch. Here's to many many years of photographing nature together...

I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments and encouragement. This is the first shot I have posted anywhere on the internet, and it is only on NSN that I would want to aspire.

Over the past few months, as I have gone from knowing nothing at all about bird photography, I have worked to learn and produce an image that could stand up in such a high standard gallery.

Again, I would like to thank all the contributers to NSN for the inspiration they have given me, and continue to do so.
