The young gull had been begging for food for a while when the adult opened its beak like this.

I agree Alan, the image is not anything special, but the way that gull can raise the back of its tongue is something I've never seen before.

Cool. I discovered their strange tongues last year while shooting tight closeups of Gulls that kept yawning. Pretty interesting.
