I meant to upload this on Saturday but apparently the hotel's high speed internet connection's proxy that I was going through wasn't allowing outgoing files, as no matter what I did I couldn't upload a file anywhere (not even ftp to my own website). In the future I'll be staying at a different HSI (high speed internet) enabled hotel in Duluth. Anyways this is another Great Grey taken recently. I particularily liked where it chose to sit, as I thought the whole scene was pretty attractive. I purposely didn't clone out any of the branches on the upper left as I think they frame the bird appropriately. Much love for Owls that perch on moss covered branches :)

Very nice and the branches make a nice habitat.

This is just a wonderful portrait, Chris. Those two yellow eyes just drilling into you as you took the shot must have been something else.

If I had any nits it would be the branch at the upper left of his head, but that is such a minor point.

Great work!

Very nice! I agree that the branches frame the owl well and make for a fine habitat shot. Nicely done.

I agree with Geoff. I'd love to have shot this. If I had, I would just clone out that tiny twig clipping his head.

Another nice one Chris. I like the woodland background in this. These guys are so cool. I've seen reports of them being close to New England now and one report of 48 Great Grays in one day only 7 hours drive from here!! Those are Minnesota numbers.....Sounds like a road trip!

I left that twig there on purpose by the way :) Great Greys are often seen on perches like this, in trees like this...The branch was part of the scene and I didn't think it detracted so much as to warrant a clone (and PLEASE don't EVEN think I want to talk about the ethics of cloning, that had NOTHING to do with my decision :) )

I love that moss covered branch he's perched on, the inclusion of the habitat is supportive here IMO and not detracting, I agree with your decision to leave the little branches. These guys are just so amazing with those intense yellow eyes.

Extremely well done. Chris. I like the warm tones. Why do I think it needs CW rotation? I must be cockeyed.
