Image shot yesterday at Venice rookery. This single chick was alone on the nest when I arrived before sunsrise and it was a long time before an adult arrived to feed it. I don't remember ever seeing such dark feathers on a chick this size?
MKII, 600 IS, 1.4x, ISO320, 1/400, f/11, RAW, full frame. I used f/11 here to ensure eyes would be sharp on both subjects.
Comments welcome.
Rich.

Excellent, Rich. You caught them both. I might try a little dose of contrast

Very nice indeed.Love the way the chick is looking up towards the adult.
I also think the foliage in front of and behind the birds frames them well.

Rich - great shot with both subjects in focus - great job. Background is not busy which makes this pop

Glad to see Venice is still productive. You're right, that chick does seem quite dark compared with what I remember. I love the interaction you've captured, with the two separated yet connected by the chick's begging.
