This female Red-Breasted Merganser was captured at Fort Desoto in Tierra Verde, FL on Saturday, January 8th. I was walking along the east side of the tidal pool area south of the foot bridge on North Beach when a male and female RBM landed. Unfortunately, I did not get that landing but snagged some nice profile shots of each individually and together. Early morning light made for a very handsome capture of this female.

I have posted the female as Jerry Merrell already posted a male that he photographed on Saturday. Later I saw six RBM in a group but poor lighting was not conducive to making any captures.

Robert,
A beautiful image. I often shoot in the same locale and have seen and photographed mergansers there. The reflection, the bow wave, the color -- all combine to create an extraordinary image. I especially like the color in the eye.

Very Sweet Robert !!!! Love the still water and wave behind the bird !!!!! Very Sweet !!!!

I did not hurt you but would back down the ISO since you don't need the high shutter speed? As you say the image is about noise free between the clean iso from the camera and Neat Image !!!!

Thanks for posting !!!!!! 8) 8

Alan, Sorry, forgot that I posted so late in the day on Saturday.

Alfred, I am generally better about keeping tabs on my ISO. Right before the sun crested the trees and lite the pond I was shooting in shade so had ISO set it higher for that. This was the first shot I took of a few shoots with the ISO at 800, then I backed it down to 320.

Anyway, liked this one best and even without Neat Image, noise was very low.

Thanks for looking.

The pano crop suits this one very well and the colours are very attractive.

Sweet light, Robert. I like how clearly you can see the wake she is creating with her swimming. Nice shot.
