I photographed this very cooperative roadside owl in the Sax-Zim bog, it's an unreal experience being so close to these birds, absolutely breathtaking. The weather is nasty and overcast, but it seems to not be so bad for such drab birds anyway. Comments and crits welcome

Good grief - look at those talons. For a stumble-upon, this is great - you're lucky the view was clear! At 35 years-old, I've still yet to see more than one live owl in the wild.

I love the pose and look. You did a great job keeping him in between the branches. You guys are killing me with the owls.

Great timing to get that posture. I know how difficult that is--even when you know it's about to fly!

And the angle on the head is great!

Well done, Abie. Different pose and not easy to get, as Paul mentioned.

The pose is great and gave me a chuckle. I'd love to make the trip up north and photograph some of these myself.

This is great! The talons, the pose, the look. Everything about this bird. The background isn't my favorite but I'll take it for sure! Good job.
