Rain & Sleet all day long. Good day to stay home and shoot the hummer in the wild cherry tree. Flash is being held high above camera, or below, I forget which. I did it both ways. Anyhow, that's why no gorget colors in this one.
10D 500 & 1.4 1/200 f11 RAW

Sharpening the full size (this is full-frame) image did not suffice for the downsized JPEG, apparently. Should have checked before uploading. As to the cherries, for me that is half the value, I love 'em. So they stay.
Thanks for all comments!

Nice pose. The Hummer looks a bit soft to me and I would consider a tighter crop as the berries on the right are a bit overpowering imo.

Beautiful colors in the feathers. I think a vertical crop would be stronger, the berries on the right don't contribute much for me.

John
I like the vertical cropping suggestion and perhaps a touch of USM as he does seem a little soft. What a beautiful little guy. Sure glad that you have something to brighten your day with all the rain you're getting out there!!

I don't think you could go wrong with almost any of the possible crops with this little guy... I like it as is John! 8)

John,

This is a very nice shot. I like the idea of cropping some of the berries off the right. Well done.

Sharpened version looks much better. I think I'd also like this better as a vertical but a nice shot as is John! :D
