Yes its alive and yes its full frame. I get asked that all the time. :D

Using the Canon 35-70mm and getting close to the 35mm end, we start getting small artifacts and noise. When I hit 35mm with this lens, it does some crazy patterns on the CCD. So it must be getting close to the optical limit with the FZ10 and this combo.

So ain't the fly a gorgeous creature :D , mind you, we can't live without them.

All the best macro human-ites

You tried some noise reduction software on this? I have a 35-70. It doesn't even make a decent paper weight, it's too light. You sure found a good use for it.

Yeah I did Neil. With what seems to happen with the CCD if I use too much, it turns to funny coloured circles M8t. I might just try a fixed 35mm on these shots next time and see what happens. I took one of an Aphid eye with this setup and the background has a "Crazed" effect. I can only put it down to the relationship between the optics and CCD. I sure would like to find a cure for that Neil. :D How about I back off and just crop to this ratio ???. That might also help the DOF mate. Interesting huh.

All the best Neil, cloudy and real muggy in WGTN today. :D No wind  LOL.

 That is close. Too bad about the lens artifacts it will be interesting to see what happens with a fixed 35 mm at this magnification. There also appears to be some chromatic aberasions.
The comp and detail are amazing and I love the shot. Excellent work M8t.

LOL, you and DB Alfred me mate. Save one for me :D Did you ever try "Speights" Alfred. Nice beer M8t, nice easy drinking beer. LOL.

Wil, yes thats the other problem, CA. I tend to get it more with the zooms so yes, I think the 35mm Canon prime will be worth a try for sure. Just need to find another co-operative fly. I'll put down some watermelon and try again with that. The artifacts I'm not sure if that will cure it. That might well be a CCD problem. Worth a try though for sure. I was looking at getting a Canon or Olympus macro objective capable of 20:1 and 35:1, I don't think they make them anymore M8t. I have seem them second hand........$350 US :!:

All the best folks, its fun but painful as well. :D Talking it through helps for sure.

Danny.

Disgusting. Actually fantastic. Danny, you really know how to get close. How do you get the flies to stand still, freeze them, or what? Or is the steady sober hands a clue and you get them drunk?

How do you train these flies to pose like this? Another great shot, Danny.

Unbelievable! How did you get a fly to sit still for this? This just blows my mind, Danny!
