Great Blue Heron..?
I think I have the correct ID for this bird.
Shot Today (12/24/2004) at Santee Lakes, Lake #5 end of boat dock.
The larger file image looks much better.

Nikon D100, 300 f2.8 @ f8, 1.4tc, -0.3 Exp Comp.
Croped slightly from right side. Very small amount of USM used.

All Comments Welcomed.

Jason, Great Blue Heron it is. It looks a bit soft, but a nice habitat shot.

ID is correct and I too feel that the image is soft. I find that once the image is sized for posting that applying USM at 100, 0.2, 0 three to five times (to taste) works very well. Give it a try. The composition is terrific.

Hi Jason. Great to see you posting in birds. This is actually the Long-legged Santee Daggerbill or otherwise known as the baby duck snatcher!  GBH it certainly is my friend, I like the placement in the frame and the light on the feathers. A little work in curves to make the colors pop and some more USM and this will sing.
