today a chaffinch obliged me by alighting on the tree instead off grubbing about on the ground! Must be Xmas!

A sweet shot katy. I like the BG color. I'd boost the contrast a bit and give it another run of USM, and it will pop.

Looks soft due to motion blur ...
1/100s was dangerous low. Flash may have helped in this situation, Katy! :roll:

Katy---a very pretty bird and sharp eye! The BG appears to have been blurred (and part of the leg and a bit of the head). This confuses the eye a bit . . .
