I love it when they turn their head sideways with that "Whoo are you" look.

Man, another terrific NHO image! You guys look like you're having a ball with the northern hawk and great gray owls this winter. How about we work out a deal --- you ship a few of your local visitors down to NY and we'll see if we can send a couple snowy owls in a care package up your way.

We only moused one of the owls in the area. This one was about 20 minutes before dusk and I just walked out into the field and approached to within 30 feet. He seemed totally oblivious.

Rob, can I be your business partner next time you travel to someplace good?

This is so cool, the pose and comp are excellent. And I like the slight color at the bottom.

Rob, a great shot. I think I see a lighter halo around the bird, especially the tail. Could be my sleepy eyes.

Alan, these halo things are killing me. The snowy and this one both look great to me and I see no halos. Does anyone else see these or is it just that I'm not angelic and I just can't see halos?

Rob, It's not a sharpening halo, which is tight around the subject, but a halo from the shadow/highlight filter that is much wider. It this case, it's very subtle, and as I said, it may be my eyes.
