I've been chasing salmon after the recent rains here...I have lots of salmon images but few new bird images. Just before I left I was looking for hunting kites trying to get a decent image of them hovering. They will hunt right next to the road and let you get fairly close when driving by. When you stop they typically move off but sometimes come back if your patient. This bird came back and let me get a few images before leaving the area. I wish I could see the eyes better but I have all winter to work on that. Canon 20D 600mm with 1.4 ext. out the car window.

Nick, this is a fantastic shot. The whites look a bit hot. The shadow/highlight tool could tone down the hot whites and bring up the shadow on the chest.

This is an awesome shot -- the whites are a bit hot but otherwise this really is great.

Great flight position Nick !!!! Just some overcooked whites !!!

Tough lighting conditions Which type metering did you use? This usually work better with incident and compensating !!

Nice going !!!! 8) 8) 8)

Beautiful capture Nick, love the soft inner feathers of the wing.

Nice one. The whites are toasted, but the pose is outstanding.
