Grey Heron

Mai Po, Dec 5 2004.

EOS 10D, EF500mm f/4 L IS USM, EF1.4x II, f/8, ISO200, manual exposure, bird hide, tripod, 58% of original, camera RAW, PS7 postproc.

For last 2 consecutive Sundays, Mai Po was opened to general public for fund raising purposes. That is bad news for birders, one of which is the bird hides are all "blocked" by a rope. I sneaked in and stayed hidden all monring, unlike the last Sunday, there wasn't much to shoot about. Bad boy.

This grey heron was looking alerted behind a sand bar. It make pretty good portrait, I think. :)

Thanks for viewing and please comment.

It is a nice portrait. It's a bit centered. I would take some off the left.

Good portrait -- I would try a vert crop with the subject left off-center.

I agree with Alan, even better would be a portrait format. Nice and sharp.
