Beautiful. The head and eyes are sharp. For myself, with protraits like this . . I were it were possible to have increased sharpness on the body. When I try closeups like this, even at F13, I get the same results of limited DOF.

I am waiting to see one of your posts state that you've handheld a borrowed 600mm.

I tried to keep the DOF narrow so only the face was sharp. I wanted the face to pop and the rest to be just a bg of nice colors.

Sweet shot, Jim. Great sharpness where you wanted it.

Because you wanted a "narrow" DOF to concentrate on the face, I would have showed less of the OOF body by cropping about 20-25% of the bottom. Simply a matter of individual taste.

Sorry I was snake-bit again. You're a good guy, Jim.

Gorgeous as usual. I was there this afternoon and didn't see this guy...

How did you manage the angle over there with a handheld 500mm?

were you standing or did you shoot this through the railing?

Thanks Pete. I waited for him to climb up to the top of a stalk of fireflag. He was pretty much eye level with me as I was standing on the boardwalk. I had to back up so he wouldn't be inside the minimum focus distance of my lens.
