I know, why the tree trunk here. I did get a full body shot of him, but what I liked about this shot was the bird was hiding behind this tree trunk.
He he would pop out to see what I was doing then right back. Sometimes just his head would peak around and others about half the body. This went on for 20 minutes. A small crab was climbing up the side of the tree, and he finally jumped out to catch it. Notice the iris, from the light side to the dark side. 300mm 1/250 sec, f/14 ISO: 400 Flash: On Pat Hurd
