We had a "welcoming committee" of one as we walked up from the float plane that had taken us from Ketchican to Neets Bay in the Tongass National Forrest. This big black bear was wandering around the beach close to the dock looking for a snack. Actually, he decided to make it easy on himself when he discovered that the door was ajar on one of the big salmon fingerling food storage buildings. Neets Bay is also the site of a salmon hatchery which makes it a great attraction to bears as well as people wanting to see bears. Needless to say this photo was NOT taken a 90mm.
