D2H, polarised flashes and lens, 200mm f4 at f18, manual flash exposure
Wish I could think of a more imaginative title but ... This is the effect I was looking for - I deliberately chose a distant background I could render close to black by using flash for my main light. I'm a bit dissappointed in being unable to eliminate all the highlights (this image is "straight out of the camera" with just a bit of sharpening) by sing polarisers but I suspect that with so many curved reflecting surfaces on a dragonfly it is close to impossible to eliminate all hot spots. I'll probably try again with my Apollo softbox and see what I get with that. Andrew
