This was taken at the end of the day. The shadows were long as were the exposures. The crystal blue sky was providing illumination to the shadowed sides of everything creating an surreal effect.
EOS 1Ds, 24-70mm f/2.8 at 30mm, f/11, 1/4 sec, ISO 200, polarizer, and lots of wind. Converted with C1SE v 3.5, in PS CS, USM.

Very nice Wil. the comp and light are great.

I might have also tried shooting this from even lower and also from a little bit more to the left to eliminate the grasses/shrub in the shadows.

I wanted to capture the yucca with the dimple in the dune on one side and the shadow side of the dune on the other. A lower angle would have limited the amount of sand in the image and increased the amount of sky.
The vegetation in the lower left is another soaptree yucca that is being covered by the dune.
Thanks,

Great shot. It would have been nice if the flowers had been above the skyline, but you would have lost the dune in the background.
