Black Crowned Night Heron - Washington, DC
EOS10D, ISO200, 400/5.6L, 1/1600 at f5.6, rotated a couple deg., slight crop all sides

Hello everybody,
it's nesting time for the BCNHs in DC's zoo and these days they are really busy. This shot was taken a three days ago.
Comments and suggestions are welcome as always.

Christoforus, Everything looks great, I just wish there was a little flash to open up the left side, especially on the face. Nice flight shot.

The symmetry works very well in this composition. My personal preference would also be a bit more light but this is very nice anyway.

Very cool. The lighting is very interesting.... specifically, the one lit eye is kinda cool looking. Very nice.

I like the perspective on this flight shot...and the nesting material makes it even better. I would like a little more lighting underneath.....you might want to try some flash to see what you can get while they're around. Nice job!!
