Not much going on at Santee Lakes right now except for baby ducks. That's just fine with me. It's so hot out here now, sitting by a lake is about the best thing going :D .

Sweet group shot. Great job with the DOF. The little one with the open bill moves this one up several notches. :D

Neil,
ditto on the above comment. Nice grouping, sharp, etc.
With the Santa Anna phenomena going strong, you chose a good place to sit down.

This is so great Neil. I know this female and her teenage tribe. They have been hanging around lake 4 and are not the least bit shy. They were standing outside my car door quacking away before I could even get out last week! This is quite the home run for a family portrait and getting them on the move and all sharp at f/8 is no small feat. Five catchlights and the open bill. Nice. 8)

Great timing with the open bill and all five birds looking at the camera, couldn't be better, also powerful composition even though two birds are cut off.

Neil, A perfectly wonderful image of Mama and her brood. The ducklings are totally adorable!!!! But poor Mom could use a hairdresser ... not a nit, merely an observation. :D :D

I think this is one of the best family shots I've seen of the mallards. It's always interesting to see the difference in how sharp the adults are...and how fuzzy the little ones appear. I love this shot.
