Inca Dove Paradise Pond, Port Aransas TX

This little sweety and her mate were building a nest just behind some willow branches. I could see them, but there wasn't a clear shot at the nest.

The male would scurry off and find nest material and come back and stand on her back to give her the nest offering.

After a while, they both came out and fluffed their feathers up on this too large branch. Maybe that was like having a cigarette or something,

10D, 500/4L IS + 1.4 II TC, 550EX + Flash Extender, ISO 400, manual mode 1/500 @ f/8, from incident meter + 3/4 stop in conversion. The meter reading was for open area and there was no time to change when they popped onto the branch.

Jim
I love closeup shots like these. The colors and details are excellent. I'd keep an eye on these guys......maybe you can catch them before the fluffy feathers. Nice job with this one.

Very nice bird. I also wish for a slight head turn and the whole tail.
Still a beautiful shot!
