Hey ya'll - have a dumb question - it may be because it is 2:44 in the morning for me and brain not working.

Articles used to be available in PDF format, which I loved (didn't have all the excess stuff like sidebars, etc.), so, what happened? Specifically, I'm looking at article by Joe McDonald, http://naturescapes.net/docs/index.php/articles/305, Capture the Incredible Using the Photo Trap and High Speed Flash.

There is no print option, no PDF option and if I click on File in my browser, I get the sidebars and all that crud. Am I just not seeing it for some reason? Or are we not supposed to print this article?

Thanks, and hope I make sense. :D

Hi Christine, sorry about that. It seems we have a slight glitch in our article serving system. At the top, just under the article title, is a bar of information including the author name & date. This bar is supposed to have a couple of small icons on the far right, including an email icon and a printer icon. You can use the latter to get to a printable version of the file.

The icons are available in the article if you navigate to it using the article category links on the left side of the NSN home page. Here is a direct link to the category containing Joe's article:
http://naturescapes.net/docs/index.php/ ... -technique

And Joe's article itself:
http://naturescapes.net/docs/index.php/ ... peed-flash

The printer icon is available on the info bar of both above links. We have stopped posting PDF versions of the articles because they take extra server space, involve extra manual work to create, and don't integrate with the new content management system now used to edit & publish our articles...

Thanks Royce! :D Wasn't sure what was going on and brain wasn't functionally fully at that time, if ya know what I mean.

Well, glad I helped find the glitch so that it can be taken care of, and having no PDFs are fine, as long as I can print with no problems. I have no idea how phpBB works, would be great though if, for the Articles section, you could serve up a CSS print stylesheet and not have to worry about including printer icon. Would make your lives easier in that it would automatically hide/not display what shouldn't be, layout page as it should be, and viewer would just have to go to file - print, that easy. As I said, just a thought, don't know if you could do that with this program or not.

Again, thanks for info and links!

Our articles are not served up by phpBB; printing forum topics is a whole separate kettle of fish. :) But yeah, that's exactly what the little printer icon does. It just brings up a version of the page with most of the fancy formating and non-essential stuff stripped out. From there you just do File > Print in the browser and away it goes...
