Lion
Maasai Mara, Kenya

I had scanned this image last week but was too busy to get it posted so I thought I'd put it up today. I had difficulty with the scan and getting the grass to look 'right'.

Nikon N90s with Tamron 200-500 MF lens, Sensia 100.

Very nice, Cheryl. I love the intent look in his eyes. Makes me wonder what he sees. :)

this is one fantastic image. I always gravitate towards the photographs that show an animal's emotion, and this shot absolutely has it. Thank you for sharing this great photograph.

Love the green and the motion, but the look in the eyes is incredible. Combined with what looks like a smile really cracks me up. What was he after?

Cheryl,

Wonderful capture. I don't believe I've ever seeen a male lion running in the wild. I have shot them running but in a captive situation.

It takes a lot to motivate these guys to actually running and that intense stare means something has grabbed his undivided attention!! but what??

Superb shot Cheryl and sharp as a tack for a running animal. 8) 8) :)

I have no idea what he was after-it was shot in 1997. And Rich in answer to your question on one of my other 'green trip' shots, yes some of the animals were harder to find. The dik diks especially were hard to find in Samburu because the grass got taller than they were in the 4 days we were there.

Very Good composition. I don't see too many stills of great cats running.

Cheryl, wow, it looks like you caught this with 4 feet off the ground! The expression really puts this one over the top.

Well, it's either food or a female  :D

Great job catching the action here and there is certainly a lot of emotion in it too.

Great action shot Cheryl. The grass looks good and the face is really sharp. Nice job.

Well done, Cheryl!!! Just thinking about trying to get a shot like this makes me nervous because I have several shots where the action was key and I just didn't get it right :? What metering mode would you have used?
