When displaying a specific topic, would it be possible to add back the "Previous Topic" and "Next Topic" hyperlinks? These were really useful when going through all topics in a specific board.

Rob,

We will do our best to add this back. It was remved for some reason in the current version but we will see if we can code it back in. It may take a lower priority spot on our list but it's on it. :)

Hi Greg
It's getting more familiar each day and is seeming nicer all the time.
I am not receiving emails when topics I am subscribed to receive new posts. I've checked to see my subscriptions and they did have new posts, but no notices. Up until yesterday, I was getting the emails.

Thanks.

I used to have my forum view as 2 columns of thumbnails rather than one wide topic per row and I kind of liked that view. I think it was an option I had somehow selected as I would get single columns occasionally when not logged in I think. Is this feature available in the new setup?

Thanks,

That's odd. I haven't got any notices for other forum posts, but just got one for Chris' post above.

Hey guys, one more thing. Something was bothering me about the new site, and I just realized what it was - in the forums, after I click on a thread, if I go back, the thread is not greyed out. This was super helpful in the old version... would it be possible for you guys to make the site do this again? Thanks - I know you're working super hard with everything!

Best,
John

John, if you mean greyed out as in marked as read (icon changing) then if it's not working for you please try deleting the board cookies (link at bottom right of forums pages). If that doesn't fix it then let me know and I will look futher into it.

Thanks Greg -
oh I see, the little orange icon with the black/white symbol vanishes from next to the subject line after I read something. I guess this could work.

What I was talking about was that on the old site, when I would click on a thread, when I would go back, the entire text color of the subject line would change to gray, making it VERY easy to quickly see which threads I had already read. You know? Like when you click on something on google, and then go back, and the color is different?

Seems to be a bug in the "Jump to" pull down menu at the bottom of th epage. If i'm in "Digital" and want to jump to "Photography topics" it stays in "digital". The pull down at the top of the page works OK.

I'm still having trouble with not recognizing the most recent visit, even after deleting board cookies. I have to hit "log out" and then "log in" to get it to recognize last visit correctly. If I just close the browser and then open a new one, it does not update the last visit. I never logged out in the old site, just closed a browser, that was always sufficient for the "last visit" to properly refresh.

I also have a distinct difference in the banner between the home page and the forum page, in my work computer which is XP and IE 6. The banner in the forum page has a green background for the Naturescapes logo, and the As for font change have the same light green background which make the white As unreadable. I do not see this at home on Vista / IE 7. What is causing this? Is the new site incompatible with IE 6?
Finally, there are differences in the symbols on the threads. I have not been able to find a key to these symbols (ok I know I'm blind) and some of them I haven't figured out yet. The old site had a key at the bottom of the page that explained these different symbols i.e. locked thread, popular, new post. where do I find this now?
Thanks!

Anywhere we can see at a glance who's online in the forum?
I do know there is indication at the top right corner of each individual entry in the new look ...
Thanks!

Andrew -- You're right, that is a bug; we'll have to add it to the list.

Cindy -- The "last visit" notice does seem to be broken right now. I don't think it's working for anyone. Also on the list. :)

Before tonight, I tested the site on more than half a dozen browsers & several machines running different versions of Windows. I'm sure the other folks tested numerous others as well. But possibly none of us tried IE 6, because I just tried it on an old clunker machine running Windows 2000, and for the first time I saw the light green background problem you just described. So I'd say it's a specific issue with IE 6. (As I moused around between other pages, I found some that crashed the browser. So there may be other IE 6 compatibility issues as well.) If you can switch to virtually any other version of any other browser, the green problem will go away. Meanwhile it may also get added to the list...

I don't think we have an explicit key to the symbols any more. But if you mouse over any of them, you should get a little pop-up message describing what the symbol means (more or less). At least that is the case for me on all of the ones I checked.

KK -- Users browsing the forum is now shown at the bottom left of the page.

Thanks Royce- I'll have to find out if I can get updated browser at work. They tend to not keep current on stuff like that and sometimes we can, sometimes we can't get updates. I'm still on the 97 version of Office suite there too :(
I sort of see the mouse-over descriptions. ONe though that doesn't get explained is the asterisk that appears to mean you've replied to the thread. And the "new posts" seems to be stuck, maybe it goes along with the "last visit" thing. It keeps telling me all these threads have new posts that haven't had new posts for days now.

Anyway it does look pretty good and now that I've figured out most of the new features I do like some of the conveniences and abilities it has. The "Jump to" is pretty nice.

KK -- Bottom left of every forum page, a bit below the "POST REPLY" button, you should see a small heading that says "WHO IS ONLINE"... then "Users browsing this forum: " and a list of user names.

Cindy -- Yes, I suspect the "last visit" thing is related to some wackiness about new posts. My last visit time is stuck also, although new posts are working for me. Hopefully those can be sorted out before long. If you're not able to upgrade the IE 6 or use something different on that work machine, then I guess we'll be stuck until that browser version can get some improved support...

But, could you place a "mark forums read" at the bottom of the forums page? Please. That way after going through all the new posts, I don't have to go back to the top of the page.

Thanks
Yes we will do that and in addition keep the one at the top.

OK I'll stay tuned on the read posts.
I don't see the "who is online" below "Post Reply"- only Return to the forum, Board Index, Subscribe topic, bookmark topic. I deleted the board cookies again and still not showing up for me either.

Greg,

Thanks!
We used to have this feature in 'the old days'. Any reason for 'deleting it' from public? A step backward I'd have thought ...
