(Coyote) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico
This is a continuation of my series of images from my two weeks at Bosque. My intent is to make the images flow as though they all occurred during a single day. Of course, they occurred during the two weeks I was there. This is the fortieth post of the series. The time is now 13:43 pm. Some things at Bosque become routine if you are there long enough. In the afternoon, I usually drive the full loop starting with the Marsh Loop since the sun is at a reasonable angle when you get to the far end of the Marsh Loop. (South side of the loop.) One time while doing this, I ended up having a close encounter with a Coyote that decided to cut across in front of my car. Since I'd been setup to shoot small birds, I frame the shot as well as I could given the lens that happened to be hanging out of the window during this very brief encounter. This was taken at the south end of the loop right where the short cut road intersect the main road. The short cut road was closed on this day to cars but not to Coyotes, which is where this one was headed during this encounter. I have two versions of this shot. This full frame image and an 8x10 crop which cuts off stuff from both sides of this image. For that crop, the right side is cropped just behind the trailing leg. Window mounted Nikon D1H, 600mm AFS, TC-14EII, ISO 250, Aperture Priority, EV+0.3, 1/1250 @ F5.6. This is full frame. Tony
