...need to be purchased for a specific operating system or will it run on both Windows and Mac out of the box? I have a Windows system now and was thinking of switching over to a Mac when I decide to upgrade. If I buy PS 7.0 now (don't know when/if PS 8.0 is coming out) for my Win system, can I run it on my new Mac system when I upgrade?

Thanks,

Not sure about that, but in this day and age, are there really that many advantages anymore of switching to a Mac over a Windows platform??

When I went to the John Shaw workshop here in Austin this past January, he emphatically stated that one does not need to switch to a Mac to do Photoshop work...that was his opinion, of course...

Cheers,

Having purchased photoshop for both operating system I'm going to have to break it to you that you do not get both version in the box.

Tony-that is not the answer I was looking for! :( I guess I'll stick with WIN operating system when I upgrade.

Have you heard anything about the release of PS 8.0?

Do you think they will have an upgrade to 8.0 if I get 7.0?

Thanks for your help.

I believe you can transfer the license from one operating system to another, but cannot use both. A call or e-mail to Adobe would answer that for sure.

If you purchase 7.0 you will be able to purchase the upgrade to 8 at a significantly reduced rate. I believe it will be a while longer before 8 is out.

You can purchase a cross-platform upgrade from Adobe if you switch systems. I think the price was around $200 (?) last time I checked.
