Til now I've resisted putting up an avatar, but I find this goofy looking giraffe irresistable. Even on a bad day I don't see anything like this when I look in the mirror. Hope you enjoy it.

10D, 600IS, 1.4x, ISO 200, EV-1/3, Crop from each side about 10-15%.

Comments and reposts welcome.

that's one crazy looking giraffe. great shot that would make a marketable card/postcard I'd imagine. I might trim just a little more off the top just for grins.

Jim,
Love the giraffe, particularly the way he/she stands out from the multicolored background.

Definitely goofy. Not easy to get a good head shot of a giraffe. This one sings.

I am glad you posted the big version of your avatar. I love this comical shot. It has great colors and shows a lot of personality. Thanks for posting in Wildlife.

Interesting and very attractive portrayal.

I particularly like the quality of the light in the image. The dof together with the focus point selected, does a perfect job of rendering sharp detail on the subject and throwing b/g elements attractively oof.

I realise this is cropped to fit the avatar dimensions but if I was going to print this I would crop a little more from each side placing the bottom edge of the animal's neck in the lower right corner of the frame. If you have PS CS you can easily bring up the detail in the shadow side of the face a little using the shadow/highlight adjustment tool and the image will really rock.

Best wishes
