A Venice rookery shot for the motif, captured in early overcast light. Nikon F100 and Provia 100F, 500f4 with 1.4x, 1/250 at f5.6, cropped to 4x5 from full-height vertical to improve composition.

Very nice! You caught the bird beautifully posed. As Sandy said this has a slight blue cast to it. Correcting the color cast and a bit more USM would make this even better.
