I picked up some more paper this morning and did another set of test prints. They are now looking very close to what they look like on screen. I guess recal'ing the monitor last night helped.

I've been using View Proof for the last month or so, so I guess I've been soft proofing already.

A big thanks to Royce and the others that helped me out with this issue. It's nice to get a print that looks like I want it to with out print out 3-4 before getting a good one.

Good work, Keith. Sounds like you're off to the races now. :) Once things settle down, and especially if you go back to your custom PrintFix profile, give us an update on how it's working out...

Another quick question. Now that I've got the prints coming out like they look on screen, I wanted to try some of MOAB's Kokopelli photo satin paper. I downloaded their profile and followed their instructions. It shows up in the Print with Preview and in the soft proofing. But, when I go to print it, I can't select "Paper Type: Premium Glossy Photo Paper" per their instructions. The option for that paper type is not there. Did I miss a step or should I pick another type of paper?

"Premium Glossy Photo Paper" should appear in the printer driver's paper type drop-down list. If it doesn't, I suspect it means you've got the matte black ink loaded in the printer. Switch to photo black and you should get the glossy media types in the driver. Is the black ink selection part of the setup info for this paper?

Yes, that all looks good. So Premium Glossy does not show up in the Epson printer driver paper type list? Do any glossy or luster paper types show up, or just matte types?

Those are all matte types, so the driver thinks the MK ink is loaded in the printer. Physically check and make sure it is really PK. If so, I suspect the driver & printer have just gotten out of sync with each other. You probably need to repower the printer and may need to reboot your PC as well.

In your previous printing for testing, etc. were you using a matte type paper with the MK ink? Or have you had PK installed all the while? Hopefully restarting everything will clear it up. I have seen this happen rarely with my 2400, usually when I've been flipping around between MK & PK and/or roll vs. sheet feed...

Doing soem more trouble shotting... rebooted printer and no change. Pulled the PK ink out and put it back in, no change. In PS CS2, none of my saved custom settings are showing up...i'm guessing cause there are no glossy papers to chose.

I printed a matte photo the other day... but was not the last print I made. I printed out one print after that with PK. I'll power down every thing and see what happens then.

Alright, found the issue...the firewire cable had come out  I hate it when some thing goes wrong right as you make some changes to a setup...but the two are unrelated. Thanks for your help...again :D
