Hello all. During my Christmas visit to New Mexico to see the parents I wanted to go up to Sandia Crest. Unfortunately neither the finches nor the weather (below zero temps at the crest and high winds) cooperated so I opted instead to go over to Rio Grande Nature Center for a few hours. The cold snap had frozen over the pond at the visitor center and several wood ducks were lounging on the ice with the ever present mallards. This one was isolated for 10 minutes or so and allowed a few pictures. The morning light provided a nice golden sheen to the ice.
