This was taken yesterday (Saturday) at the Mid-Atlantic Chapter get together. It was nice to see some old acquaintances and fun to meet a few new ones. It was cold...oops, no it was darn cold....so everyone was dressed in multiple layers. So, after spending a good part of the afternoon and evening together it was dinner before we had the opportunity to actually see one another. Thanks to Greg and Heather for organizing the event.
Image
Fuji S2 RAW, 24-70 f/2.8. Used Photoshop CS's Shadows and Highlights to bring out just a little detail in the fg. and a little USM.

Wow! I totally missed this color! I must have been in too much of a hurry to get back to the car... :D Really great shot, the colors are wonderful.

So great to see you again!

Wonderful. I didn't see these colors either. This was well worth waiting for.

Steve, yup, I remember this light, but was back along the jetty and there would have been a lot of distractions in the composition so I didn't take it. I'm glad you got it.

Nice Steve and great colors. Glad you positioned the lighthouse off center too.

BTW- I can't tell how cold it is looking at the picture. :P

Very nice Steve, did you apply any blur to this? It looks a tad soft or blurred, cant quite figure it out. Love the color and comp!

Thanks for the comments. One thing I forgot to mention in the initial post is that the color of the light in the lighthouse comes close to the colors in the sky. I think this matches the warm sky colors lower in the frame. (It's fake in the sense that there is no fresnel lens to project it and it doesn't rotate.) Now the truth--this closeness of color is purely accidental. I knew that the lighthouse light would appear warmer than what my eyes were seeing but I expected it to be more yellow. Ever once and a while we get lucky.

Robert, you are right. It seemed to look ok last night when I posted it but I see what you are talking about. I'll have to go back and look at the photoshop version and see if it's there. The two candidates that I've thought of are Shadows and Highlight adjustment caused some "grain" that makes it look soft. The other is, I used a fair amount of jpg compression to keep the file size down--seemed ok then but not now.

Thanks for pointing out.

Steve,
Great shot. I too missed this opportunity as I was back at the car when this horizon appeared. Perfect parting image for a fun day at the beach.
