Polar Bear
Churchill, Manitoba

This is one of my stretching polar bear series that I have not previously posted and I thought it fit the motif this week. I wish the bush was not so close to his face but he just would not listen when I was trying to give him directions.

Cheryl, YOu just have to practice in PB language, not English. Good bahavior regardless of the bush. I like it. By the way, he needs a good tooth cleaning, Just say AH.

Cheryl, another great shot! With the big yawn and stretch, he almost looks cute and cuddly, but the blood stain on the snow tells me otherwise.

Hey Cheryl,

Very cool .. As Chas said in his recent black bear post, photographing bears is such an amazing experience .. simply being around them is a treat.

This has that great juxtaposition of 'cuddly bear' and 'blood on the snow' .. very emotive image that holds my attention. I do think this one really is strengthened by cropping a bit from around the frame, placing more emphasis on the bear and his 'expression' .. not a lot, just a little all the way around the frame.

Cheers

Carl

Cool shot- love the pose and the big yawn. I hope you didn't try to give him the belly rub!

Cheryl,

Look at the size of those paws!!!! I love the bears position as well as the open mouth. Without the mouth being open, this wouldn't be nearly as strong IMO. My only nit is the bush by his head that you mentioned but other than that I like it alot.

Happy New Year! :)
